“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and wordly passions and to live self-controlled upright and godly lives in this present age.” Titus 2:11-12
Grace has been misunderstood for quite some time. People who think it offers freedom to do things your own way knowing that forgiveness awaits really don’t understand how a true understanding of grace engages a life.
According to scripture grace teaches us to say “no” to ungodliness and worldly passion, not “yes”. True grace increases our self-control and desire to live for Christ in this present age.
When you truly understand the grace of God that allowed Jesus to pay the penalty for your sin even though your behavior was not stellar and you did not deserve it you want to please Him. Grace invites you near to Him and the closer you get the more you want to be like Him.
Grace starts a chain reaction that will affect every area of your life. Your desire for sin will decrease and your longing for righteousness will increase. When grace is present, self-obsession diminishes and fixation with Christ grows.
See, you were not only saved by grace through faith, but you are being changed daily by it as well. It is the foundation for your spiritual life and it is the fuel that makes it grow.
Grace is a good thing.
